As someone else stated - someone fiddled around and came up with an extension to the standards that allows a faster transmission rate. You need a card that supports it to get that speed. Only D-Link supply such cards, as far as I know, but they're based on a freely available Texas Instruments chipset, so there's nothing stopping other manufacturers from following, I suspect. The D-Link cards only offer Windows drivers right now, although I've heard that they've also promised Linux support "before Christmas". I have no idea if they'll ever supply Mac drivers. But - I have a 614+ router here right now, and I can tell you that Airport cards have no problem at all talking to it (at 11 meg, of course). I have a TiBook, a new dual G4 and an LCD iMac all hanging off it, plus a couple of Windows boxes (with D-Link cards). No wires, no hassles. For an all-in-one solution, it's a good buy, IMHO. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
