Can you pull the module, and see what model number it has? It may be a bad
drive. The Pismo had one version that was prone to errors. Mine died.  I
suppose you bought your Pismo used? Is it still under warranty? I think the
model number of the bad drive is 8080B or something along those lines. It's
made by LG.
