in my opinion, go ahead and upgrade 9 all the way. If for nothing
else than just bug fixes.

According to your message your Wallstreet has a 4 gb drive, I wouldn't
partition it with that small a drive. That's my opinion... Drives,
even laptop drives, are getting cheaper by the day. If you have the
funds, look for a good deal after xmas, and upgrade your drive. With a
larger drive, you have the option of doing what you're talking about.
I'm sure it's possible with a 4 gb drive, I just don't see a point to
doing it. If you do get a larger drive, then I would partition it with
the primary being at least 8 gig, in case you want to upgrade to X
later.
