Jeremy, I went to XLR8 Your Mac and read user reports of this hack. The only instances of failure to boot or even motherboard failure occurred when Rage iBook users tried to apply the hack. I believe there have been two cases of major failures on Radeon-based iBooks. Two. Out of probably hundreds or even thousands of people who have used the hack. In general, if it was entered incorrectly on a Radeon iBook, there will just be no difference once it's rebooted and you'll have to do it again and be more careful. It worked perfectly on mine and on a friend's iBook as well (my friend was the one who convinced me). I was very skeptical and nervous at first, but I don't think it's dangerous unless you're using a Rage iBook (in which case it's about the worst thing you can possibly do).
