I don't think any Macs have had digital input, it's only been analog. Recent models have not even had analog audio input, though it's coming back on many of the recent pro models. Digital audio output is only on iMacs, eMacs and PowerMacs, in the form of the 2.5 mm Pro Speaker jack.
