Is it a fully enclosed external drive, or is it a drive you bought 
yourself plus an enclosure? I think you might have to set the jumper 
setting to "slave." I'm pretty sure that external drives are configured 
to do that by default, but standard internal drives have the "master" 
setting by default.

Do you know how to change the jumper setting? I just want to ask before 
I get into a lengthy explanation.
