Someone may have addressed this already as I am on digest, however 
bearing that in mind:
        The G4 upgrade available for the pismo draws less power than the G3 it 
replaces it being a newer version in respect to which chip it is.  I 
don't believe the newer version of the G3 currently in use with the 
ibooks was in the pismo (750 something,) the one in the pismo being an 
older version of the G3 which drew more power.  Your ability to change 
batteries while having 1gb of ram in the pismo can probably be 
attributed to the lower power requirements of your G4 upgrade as this 
seems to be the case.  You did notice the increased battery life didn't 
you?
