Well, as he said, it would run on the regular firmware instead of 
requiring software to run. Are there problems when attempting to boot 
up from a volume that doesn't have the special software installed on 
it? For example, a system installer CD?

I'm not exactly sure how it works... the only accelerator I've ever 
owned was a Radius 25 MHz 68020 for an SE PDS slot, and somehow it 
managed to always work even if I didn't have the drivers installed on 
the startup disk. Maybe it was part of the processor's firmware or ROM 
or something.

Which makes me think... perhaps other accelerators require you to send 
you original card in, so they can upgrade the firmware to work with the 
new processor that they put on the original card? In that case, having 
an entire daughtercard replacement would be a big advantage because you 
wouldn't have to send anything in.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure what I'm talking about so anyone, feel free 
to correct me on any points.
