In my memory of this, it is a hardware problem with one of the components.
It was an early version of this component. Some people have had success
complaing to Apple and had them repaired. You might check with them or the
Knowledge Base on their website. Bottom line; it's not a software problem
and won't go away without a physical change. (I have a Lomvbard)
