I can't see why it wouldn't work. Now, why would you want to install it?
Well, there are a few open source applications out there (GIMP comes to mind
<http://www.gimp.org>. GIMP is more or less a free PhotoShop wannabe) that
require this kind of X.11 support. There is also the FINK project
<http://fink.sourceforge.net/> that allows you to run those X applications
on OS X.
