Someone replied to one of my posts a while back that changing the hard
drive in an Apple notebook does not actually void the warranty, just
anything you screw up isn't covered under your warranty.

Can I get verification that this is true? I am confident I can do the
switch safely and I am willing to pay should I screw something up in
the process, but I want to make sure if something unrelated (like my
screen) goes before its time, Apple's warranty will still cover it even
though I've changed drives.

The response to this is crucial to how soon I can take this noisy and
slow stock 20GB drive out and replace it with a 5400 RPM 40GB drive.
If I can do this now before "waiting out" my warranty period, I won't
have to buy an external drive because I can get an external case for
the switched out drive.

Thanks for your advice.
