Mailman won't work?  What kind of server?  It runs like gold on all the 
major free *nices that I know of.  Just make sure you have Python, 
Apache, and SMTP set up correctly.

I think Mailman is the greatest thing since sliced white bread, myself. 
  I used to use majordomo (ahh!) and some others, but Mailman ended up 
being the easiest to configure and deal with.  Granted, I don't run as 
many lists as lem does (I just have 4).  I think it's so great it's 
worth setting up an el-cheapo old PC running Linux or BSD to do Mailman 
lists exclusively.
