Go for a Pismo over a Lombard. Pismos are very nice PowerBooks. They come in 400 and 500 G3 models as you know. They will take up to 1GB of RAM and will use PC-100 SDRAM SO-DIMMs. It can also use faster PC-133 RAM but can not use PC-66. Your Wallstreet can use PC-66, 100, and 133. As long as your DIMMs are PC-100 or higher they will work in both.

There are not a lot of Pismo options as most things were standard. They all came standard with DVD, hard drives ranged from 6GB to 20GB. For OS X it will run very nicely [more RAM is better] and you will want a larger drive than 6GB. I used a 10GB in mine for a couple of years before moving to a faster 40GB, it all depends on your use of it.

Battery life tends to be around 4-4.5 hours for me with AirPort on but the screen completely dimmed and without other things [like FireWire drives] plugged into it. The Pismo has 10/100T wired ethernet, one PCMCIA Cardbus compliant slot, an internal AirPort slot, two bays [each can accept a battery and the right one only can accept DVD ROMs and other modules], 2 USB ports, 2 FireWire ports, IR DA [not supported in OS X], and a 56K V.90 modem.

It is a very nice PowerBook and you can think of it as a higher end Lombard with FireWire and better graphics. Processor upgrades for it are often considered spotty because due to a special Apple only chip on the daughter card the only way to upgrade a Pismo is to unsolder the G3 from the daughter card and resolder another chip on. Some people have had great success, those that have no don't really have a backup since their original daughter card got altered to create the upgrade.

Hope that answered your questions.

I am thinking of buying a new Powerbook, currently I have a Wallstreet series 292 mhz. I am thinking of getting either the 400 or 500 mhz pismo. Will the ram I just purchased work in the Pismo? What are some opinions on the Pismo? Or should I go with the Lombard? Thanks for any insight!
