You can also use Carbon Copy Cloner to make a backup of your home folder. That should be enough to cover your move to a new computer. Copying the main Library folder shouldn't harm things...but I might make a disk image (with carbon copy cloner) of all the things in it, then drag them over only when you need them.

don't bother with Carbon Copy Cloner unless you want to clone the

since you don't... i would just put the 12" into Target Disk Mode (boot with the T key down) and hook the two up via FireWire. drag-copy your whole home directory (/Users/meg or whatnot) and whatever Applications you want to transfer. viola... done.
The last time I did this, from the iBook to the Powerbook, it seemed as if I really needed to have copied some things from the main Library folder. Would there be any harm in copying that as well?
