Now that you mention it Bruce, I did fool around with my modem settings a couple of weeks ago because I wanted to send a fax to my dr. I am wondering if this is when it all started.
Could that really be the reason for this noise? My computer has not whistled at all today. I think the modem control panel may be the reason I am hearing crackling sounds when my email gets picked up. However, I have cable not phone line so I don't even use my modem.
