I've got exactly the same problem with my WallStreet, though slightly worse in that the sound doesn't work properly now. I can live with the lack of sound, and I wouldn't mind so much that the battery doesn't charge, as the battery doesn't have much life in it anymore; but constantly losing its PRAM settings such as date and time every time it is unplugged is annoying.
I have sourced the correct part from someone breaking a WallStreet, but am I correct in thinking one needs to take apart a lot of the PowerBook to gain access to this bit.

... and step 18 is quite a long way down. The only thing that looks particularly difficult/fiddly to me is removing the LCD, but as I haven't yet done that...
Perhaps someone who has done this can advise on the difficulty level or whether there are better take-apart instructions elsewhere. I have gone so far as to upgrade the SO-DIMM in the lower slot, which wasn't difficult.
