Pull the battery and pull the AC cord. That will kill it. The machine will run a file system check on reboot so it will take a but longer start after you do this. Hopefully you can eject the dvd after that.

Well, I can't eject it. I push f12 and the eject image appears but the rainbow ball just keeps spinning. I think my Applecare either ran out 10/1 or will on 10/10.
My Pismo's just getting hot. I can't get it to force quit...
Any ideas?

Popped the battery out and rebooted. Put the dvd back in and it plays but I don't like the sound of the drive....and this is a replacement drive. I guess I'm off to the AppleStore this weekend. My AppleCare lasts another week. Maybe I'm lucky in that the drive can be replaced. I've been using my desktop and haven't been using the Pismo, so it's better that I have a chance to investigate further while I'm just under AppleCare.
Not sure if this was mechanical but I'll hope my local Apple geniuses can help.
