Yes, it should be so simple. But when I move the folder to the trash I'm told that I can't delete it because it belongs to root. Who is root and how do I get permission to delete this file?

root is the superuser account, who can do anything they want on a Unix system. (which is why root login is disabled on Macs out of the box)

Try this, presuming you're an administrative user.

Start Terminal.

at the prompt type 'cd /' (without the ''s)

then type sudo rm -r Previous\ Systems

(or whatever the folder is called, exactly..if you start typing the name and hit the tab key in the Terminal, it will autocomplete the name if you've typed enough of it to be unique)

This will delete that folder.

As for the final? 10.2.8 release, I think I'll give it a few days this time and let someone else work test this one.

Sigh..the *only* identified problem with 10.2.8 was that the ethernet driver for some G4 towers was messed up under *some* conditions. (if you used the 169.x.x.x non-routed subnet)

If you'd updated to 10.2.8 before they pulled the update, then ran software update again, you got the new 10.2.8 update, which is < 500k in size and explicitly says it's the fixed ethernet drivers for those G4 systems.

*ALL* the other complaints of "10.2.8 did this to me" and "10.2.8 did that to me" and "10.2.8 ate my homework, drank the milk right from the jug and ran off with my girlfriend" are largely mis-identification of other problems and blaming them on the update.
