My firewire card is a generic, but it does show up on the desktop, although
I don't know if it needs it's own driver.
The firewire card shows up on the desktop?
When the iPod is plugged in, it turns on but then after a few seconds the
screen says "ok to disconnect", with a big checkmark. The iPod does not
show up on the desktop, or in iTunes. Rebooting the iPod doesn't help.
I had an issue with my ipod not showing up the other day as well. My solution was to reload the software on it through the software updater utility. That fixed my problem. However, mine was acting like it was connected. Yours does not sound like it's even connecting to the machine. I would make sure that the ipod works on a different machine if possible. There's a slim chance that the firewire port could be bad. Where did you get your firewire card from? I wonder if there are drivers for the card on their site?? Definitely sounds like something's not allowing the ipod to talk to the powerbook.
From all I have gathered, this iPod (I got it used) and it's software (version 1.3), are compatable with 9.2.2, and I do have the iPod 1.3 updater.
That sounds correct to me.
