Anyone know for sure?
I don't know the answer to that question, but I just recently went from a 400MHz processor to a 500MHz processor in my Pismo (yes, the poor upgrade path ;-) I did run Xbench on my Pismo before and after the upgrade. Here are some results: Quartz Graphic Tests: 400MHz: 48.40 500MHz: 60.47 OpenGL Graphic Tests: 400MHz: 49.42 500MHz: 60.93 User Interface Tests (which consist in animating a bunch of controls and measure the refresh rate): 400MHz: 61.25 500MHz: 73.76 and finally, CPU tests: 400MHz: 26.36 500MHz: 33.45 So, as you can see, going from 400 to 500MHz shows improved performance in the graphic area. Now, I don't know if a G4 500MHz would do a lot better, probably, but maybe not, since a lot of those graphic tests use the video card which is always the same... -Laurent. -- ============================================================================ Laurent Daudelin AIM/iChat: LaurentDaudelin <http://nemesys.dyndns.org> Logiciels Nemesys Software mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] FITNR // adj.: [Thinking Machines, Inc.] Fixed In The Next Release.
