It does indeed run faster than previous versions of OS X on the same
hardware.  Responses have varied between "noticable" to "zippy".  But
beware some folks have commented that Panther seems to use a bit more
memory than before.  So max out your RAM (since RAM is so cheap, you
should do this on any computer).
