A friend running OS X on some stuff, but mostly 9.1 is suddenly having a problem booting into 9.1 from a dead start. Wierdest thing... Boots fine into 9.1 with extensions off, but hangs up on booting with even only the Apple basic set of extensions on -- hangs up before any icons appear along the bottom of the screen. Also, when trying to go into Classic from OS X, the finder says the disk doesn't have 9.1 on it, although it does. I have already reinstalled 9.1. OS X doesn't recognize it! One more clue: When we try to boot up in 9.1, the message always comes up that the machine was improperly shut down, when in fact it was not. Seems like some register isn't getting reset, of sumptin.

Wot is going on????
