The easiest way is to just get a 911 case for the 60 GB once you dismount it from the iMac. That way you can switch the 60 GB between computers as you see fit. If you do get an external case get one that doesn't need a fan; you'll appreciate the quiet.

The real question about replacing your internal HD is if you feel you need more storage when you're on the move. Do you want access to most of your music library or to work on digital video when you're away from home? If so then get a new internal HD. I'd not recommend paying a premium for an 80 GB HD, but rather one between 40 and 60 GB. If I didn't have so much music I'd be more than happy with the 40 GB in my Pismo myself.
