Now comes the shuttle exercise. Presume the new Pbook comes pre-installed, maybe even with the bundled software. Can I CC clone all the contents of my Flattop iMac to the Pbook or should I follow a different method. Same goes for my wife's 400 Mhz SE iMac once the Flattop has been cleared and reformatted.

I would reinstall my applications and then move my home folder over to the new Powerbook. I did this when I upgraded from Jaguar to Panther, and I did not have many of the problems that other people had with their upgrade installs. There's a possibility that OS X might install some extensions/drivers differently depending on the hardware you have installed on a machine.
