I'm becoming increasingly unhappy at the way my Lombard has taken to Panther. It runs faster, yes, but only a little; my open windows disappear at random, though when I click the App icon they reappear; Print Explosion Deluxe regularly hangs the machine, and so forth. I intend to keep working with it to see how many of these problems I can repair, but am wondering if an Archive and Upgrade to Jaguar would work if the problems become less tolerable.
The few reports of this I've read have indicated that this does not work.
Did you originally do an A&R to install Panther or do an Upgrade install?
I'm thinking that re-applying Panther via A&R will solve your problems...these are not panther-specific issues that Ive run into, but broken system issues. (or broken app issues, as it sounds like in the case of Print Explosion)
I'll admit, I resisted doing that on my system which had always had little nagging problems, but once a mishap barfed my drive I did an A&R re-install of the OS and my system's been flawless since.
Also, never forget the value of multiple users as a trouble shooting tool: if you have persistent problems with things, log on as a different user and see if they repeat...if not, it's all contained in your user's directory, and can usually be solved by judiciously tossing preferences files.
