Why would you ever want to install Linux on a Mac when OS X is the best personal Unix ever?
Who cares _why_ he wants to use Linux?! Sorry, but answers like that really get under my skin.
I'm curious. I've paid my dues with Linux, working on an embedded application. I found the SuSE Linux User interface to be an awkward and disorganized. It can be made to look pretty but it's a hodgepodge underneath. Administration involved way too much time on Google wading among the cries of other users trying to figure out what file in what directory you change to get some service to work, library to compile or whatever. There are vast differences between distributions. Configuring RedHat is different from SuSE.
There are plenty of reasons why a person might want to use Linux instead of OS X. Cost might be one of them (Linux is "free", OS X costs $130). System resources are another. Heaven forbid that someone might NOT actually LIKE Aqua/OS X! Or someone might LIKE Linux! But why make this person defend his question like that? It's perfectly reasonable to want to run Linux on a Mac, regardless of whatever bias you may hold against it.
I'm not biased, there are things I would and have used Linux for but I sure would not want it on my tiBook instead of OS X.
