be sure to call IBM and check on the warranty on that drive before you chuck it. Many of the travelstar drives have a 3 year warranty. Even if you need to purchase a new drive sooner, you can have that one fixed under warranty and get a working drive back to use in an external case, or sell to offset the cost of a new drive.
