This is my situation:
Airport Extreme G5 2x2 Aluminum 15" occasionally Wallstreet, Kanga, 5300ce with the Lucent 802.11b thing. Bricks and concrete house.
These are the results:
I can never get the 100% signal, even when the Airport is 1 inch far from the Mac...
in any case the airport cannot cover the whole house, which is a 120 square meters (in feet it should be 1291 sqf) with no stairs.
I have noticed problems whilst using the 2.4 GHz cordless telephone and occasionally the microwave oven.
BTW: 1 meter is equal to 3.28 feet.
BTW2: the 802.11b equipped vintage Macs seem to catch the signal better than the extreme equipped G4 and G5.
BTW3: I did not notice any decrease in performance when one of the older Macs joins the network (the whole thing should automatically drop to 802.11b) probably because of I cannot even reach the theoretical speed of the 802.11g network.

Brick and concrete (including stucco) tend to absorb the signal where as metal just reflects it.
