It appears that the DVD portion of the CD/DVD drive has kicked the bucket...It no longer recognizes a dvd...either home made or commercial....It spins up and down several times and eventually stops.. However, it does mount and play cd's w/out a problem....Unfortunately, the A/C for the unit expired back in March...but when it was sent back to Apple last October for other work...new power board, cpu etc, I told them that the drive was acting buggy ie....not loading a dvd the first time...Nothing was done to it and now it appears to be well and truly expired. I believe that it is an LG unit because the little serial # tag on the case ends DLG...
Now for the $64 Question.....What are the suggestions for replacing the unit..best vendors, prices, customer svc etc that y'all have dealt with? Is it possible to get an original Mat drive instead of an LG? I have a table top DVD player but I like too use this one more...

When I called A/C about the fact that they neglected to do anything last fall about it I was told that since the A/C was over, I was SOL but for $379 they would check it and repair/replace whatever was wrong..
