It's only impossible to answer if you demand an exact price, instead of a price range guideline. Why do you demand an exact price? It goes without saying that the fact that, whatever quote the posed question can get is only a (subjective) guideline, was assumed by the person asking. Prices vary to a large degree within certain price range and it can be agreed upon with at least some certainty (and some subjectiveness of course, but ony some) about at what range that is for a certain product. Then, of course, it also goes without saying that whatever you can get is what you can get, but if you pay a lot more, let's say that is 25% or so higher, than what similar products go for including shipping and all from places like Ebay, then you're clearly paying more than what the product actually is worth. Obviously different outlets affect price ranges too and to some extent are to be considered submarkets. So does the time aspect. If you can wait a few weeks you're more likely to be able to get a higher price (unless a new machine appears on the scene). This of course also works the other way, at least that is my experience.
My point is then, that unlike yours, I say that it is *the market* that decides what's a reasonable price, not necessarily the individuals selling or buying. I disagree the market is 2 parties at any given moment that you're implying. It's obviously a rather wide assortment of different individuals interacting, to a large degree trough the business systems made possible by the Internet. The data available trough these then is what makes it possible to give a reasonable price range quote, perhaps fittingly with a disclaimer (as mine had). That said, I realize some people may be better in touch with the price ranges for the affected product than what I am, but I don't think I was way off. -- G-Books is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
