Word of warning - ensure you don't delay the purchase until near the end
of the current one-year warranty. I was given a TiBk last year as a gift
(!) and recently went to purchase Apple Care. Apparently there must be at
least 90 days left on the warranty before they'll extend it. Eek. I'm
out of luck. So when I carry my Bk I walk carefully, with toes and fingers

Must depend on who you purchase your Applecare from. According to Apple's site, it can be purchased anytime before the warranty expires. I purhcased mine with around 2 weeks of the original warranty left and had no issues. The key is to make sure that it's registered with Apple before the warranty runs out.
