IE has always been the fastest browser out of all of 'em. Now, the others may be faster when it comes to dial up or something slow, but the slowest connection I've had since '96 has been and average of 3M down and 384K up. Back then I had the equivalent of what would have been considered a T1 business connection of the day. These days, you can get that speed via ADSL for around $35 a month.

If you live somewhere close enough to the phone company, or if there's cable available.

The best I can do at home is 26,400.... you heard me right, none of this 56k dial-up stuff for me, I'm living in the land of 26K.

Fortunately the office is DSL.

For dialup, I still think Opera is fastest because it lets me disable images (and turn them back on) so easily. Downloading just the text of a page is a LOT faster and I find that most of the time that's all I need. If I need to see an image, I just right click -> load it.
