I had to comment on this one. . .this reminded me of the one thing
Apple has done over the years that truly is a slap to loyal Mac users.
Anyone look in their box for X? Or 9 for that matter? See those
"upgrade coupons?" Wonder what they are for? Basically nothing. .
Wouldn't is be good for Apple to actually recognise that they have a faithful; If'n'when I buy Tiger, that will bring my cost so far for OSX to US$516. I think people who have already paid 387 or 258 for OSX should get a discount, for being the people who kept Apple going when it looked like it wasn't going to.

Sour taste in the mouth, etc.

I watched the recording of Jobs in San
Francisco. As far as I'm concerned, Tiger wasn't originally planned to
even be mentioned until late next year. What was most likely planned
was for Steve to introduce the new iMac G5 line. . which everyone knows
Apple dropped the ball on. Of course, we Mac users know it wasn't
Apple, but IBM for not being able to develop a better cooling system to
work in the tight quarters within an iMac. But now I'm getting into a
tangent aren't I? :)

The cooling system is Apples responsibility. It would be IBM's problem if it produced chips which could not be cooled.

Just for the record, the fact is that I have a cooling system which can cool the G5; 3 times the performance of state of the art coolers. Best regular cooler tested independently runs around 0.44C/Watt; my system runs around 0.17C/W under similar conditions. Been developing it for 7 - 8 years. Performance can be traded off to a whisper quiet cooler of very good performance, rather than exceptional performance at the same loudness as others.

If any cooler can work with a G5 in an iMac (or a laptop) it is this one.

Apple's non solicited ideas agreement is totally unacceptable 'What's mine is mine, what's yours is mine, and I can even give what was yours to someone else if I want to' Check it out.

And of course they don't accept inventors Confidential Disclosure Agreements.

This is why little progress is happening in technology; or should I say much less than is possible. A stalemate in IP disclosure totally unfair to inventors (but typical of the entire corporate / inventor relationship) keeps many, many inventions sequestered.

As I said, just for the record.
