Did you mean for the movie stream? Or did you actually mean the screen
displaying the GUI?

I didn't try and make a snapshot. I was trying to PLAY the movie.
Possibly the same problem can affect playing a movie stream? That's a
tough one. If so is the case, wouldn't it be possible to rechannel the stream?

As opposed to ATI video cards (which is another kind of video, namely the
screen displaying the GUI, or did you mean as opposed to Apple DVD
Player? In neither case this normal vs "another channel" reference makes
much sense to me as it seems you are comparing Apples (=Movie streams
with MPEG2) with Oranges (=The video card displaying what the OS feeds
it). After all VLC send its decoded movie images to the same video card.
