Hi all,
I'm using a Pismo 400MHz with 192MB RAM, running OSX 10.2.
If I was to upgrade the RAM to 512MB or higher, will there be a significant difference in performance? Or am I better off selling off the Pismo and perhaps getting an iBook G4 later on?

I mainly use the Pismo for general email, Internet, audio and word processing. Nothing too fancy.

Mark.

Memory is always worth upgrading!

When I got my Pismo in 2000, I immediately bought a 128MB chip ($119 in 2000) to get to 192MB - I guess that's your present configuration.

You will see a world of difference if you stick at least a 512MB chip in to bring the RAM to 640MB (along with the 128 chip you have). I am running a Pismo 400MHz, 768MB RAM, 10.3.5. I ordered more RAM about 2 or so years ago with the thought that when I eventually sell the Pismo, I could use that same RAM chip in a (new at the time) flat screen iMac. The RAM I bought is the same chip used in the first couple of generations of G3 LCD iMacs. But the Pismo did sooo well with the added RAM, it has continued to be my work horse: email, surfing, working with Adobe GoLive and Graphic Converter, playing tunes and doing a little iMovie (version 2), playing Diablo II.
