You want to connect your access point to one of the port of your Asante
router/switch. Then, the access point will serve as a "bridge" between your
wireless computers and the Asante router. No need to turn on any network
settings or distribute IP addresses, just relaying network packets from the
Ethernet network from the Asante router to the wireless computers and vice
versa.

I'm not sure about which base station you should get. If you needs are very
simple and don't plan, for example, to use the modem in the AirPort Extreme
base station, then I guess you could go with the Express base station, which
is cheaper...

dinosaur n.: 1. Any hardware requiring raised flooring and special power.
Used especially of old minis and mainframes, in contrast with newer
microprocessor-based machines. In a famous quote from the 1988 Unix EXPO,
Bill Joy compared the liquid-cooled mainframe in the massive IBM display
with a grazing dinosaur "with a truck outside pumping its bodily fluids
through it". IBM was not amused. Compare big iron; see also mainframe. 2.
[IBM] A very conservative user; a zipperhead.
