Hey, Listers!
I'm still struggling with my Wallstreet. It still will not charge the battery. I've replaced the power card and the PMU, but still no go. The battery is "new," purchased off eBay. Any ideas as to where to go from here? In an (supposedly) unrelated issue, when I boot up (OS X.2.8), my screen is blacked out all the way to the log in page. When I hit the brightness button above the keyboard, everything is fine. Odd, but it's not like I can't work around it. However, if I try to boot from the CD, the screen is also black, (I can almost make everything out, but not quite), but the brightness button doesn't help. in other words, I can't repair disks etc. reset logins, etc. from my boot CD. Strange, yes? Anybody encounter this before? Another quirk is that when I try to verify or repair permissions, it makes it only about halfway through and then bogs down. Lastly, I bought a cable at Microcenter this weekend out of the bargain bin. It is for Powerbooks and has a HDI 30 fitting on one end and a SCSI DB M25 fitting on the other end. My intent was to be able to hook my Wallstreet up to a external CDRW or HD. Unfortunately this cable has the wrong end on it. It has the end that plugs into the back of my Umax J-700, S-900, G3 MT, or PowerTower Pro. Is there a "gender/bender" fitting to convert this so I can plug my SCSI CDRW into this cable? Thanks, as always, in advance.
