At that price I would also say to go new.  I don't know about European prices, 
but our 
current entry level iBook is a fast 1.2GHz that is more than 50% faster than 
the 
800MHz on account of the faster system bus and double the level 2 cache, making 
it 
faster than even the 1GHz PowerBook I bought last year.  The warranty issue is 
also 
valid, though I can say I've had very good luck with used Apple computers, 
especially 
bought from people on the LEM Swap list (thanks Jared for the GORGEOUS Kanga 
PowerBook).
