I posted this to the iBooks list last week and got no reply, so I
apologize to those who have seen this twice.

Is there anything diagnostic about an LCD's backlight behavior that
would indicate whether the inverter is going bad or the bulb is dying?
I'm too lazy to fix both...

I have a clamshell iBook with a dim display that I'd like to return to
it's former glory. It seems equally dim overall, with the exception
of the top part of the screen to the left of center, which seems
darker than the rest.

Thanks for any help,
-matthew surles
