Amber: Maybe you just did not notice how many people on the plane watched the same movie as you did :-).
Personally I prefer my new 12'' over the 15'' that I had about a year ago. It is easier to transport and I can use it even when the person in front of me reclines their seat. Display quality is quite OK and at home I use the large Apple Cinema Display. My typical use is similar to the one described by Andrew yesterday. One useful application with this small display is CodeTek VirtualDesktop Pro that enables you to define virtual desktops and assign specific applications to them.
