For what its worth, I have the 5400RPM 80GB TravelStar in my 12" G4, and the 5400RPM 80GB Samsung in my Pismo. Both drives are nearly silent (no advantage for either) and both seemed to give its respective home a similar speed boost over the 4200rpm drive it replaced. Samsung drives aren't so common in the US, but they are in pretty much every laptop sold in Korea, without any issues or complaints that I'm aware of (my family is in Korea).
I wouldn't hesitate to buy anohter Samsung drive, though if the price difference is only $10 or $20, I'd still spring for the TravelStar, just because of past experience with them.
