Well, interestingly enough I had noticed that posting from Apple through a news group (perhaps this very one) and contacted my nearest Apple dealer. He said if it was working then not to worry about it.
I just spent a week holidaying in Tasmania and ran into another Apple dealer there. When I asked what sort of error could be causing my screen problem he immediately said the video chip/card? needs replacing and Apple had an extended warranty on them.
Flew home today and immediately contacted the original dealer who confirmed that (I gave him my serial number) and he has ordered a replacement forthwith.
Who says Santa doesn't exist???
