Hi all! I have a G3 iBook just bought from a friend. It has 256 MB of SDRAM and system 10.3.9 installed. I am thinking about getting more RAM (I can have up to 640 on this iBook) but I am intrigued by the new system, Tiger, given all that I have read about it. I really can only afford one or the other right now; what would you get first?
I just picked up a G4 Powerbook 12" with 256MB of Ram.
I wanted to upgrade it to the "unsupported" 1024 MB of Ram but opted out for the 512 MB stick because of price. 1,200 CND for the laptop and 500 more for the RAM was toooo much.
At 640 the machine works very well with 10.3, At 256 it was O.K. but ...
Go with the RAM. I would wait for 10.4 to become popular and hear some "real life" reviews of any potential speed increases before I slap down 170 CND for a copy.
Just my 2 cents
