It's a 300MHz Wallstreet; now I need to buy a printer and would greatly
welcome suggestions as to what brand/model I can/should buy.
I have a Powerprint serial to parallel cable version 4.5; a MacAlly USB
card; and a Firewire-2-go card.
My main priority is high-quality black/white text printing. (I'm not so
concerned about color/graphics.)

The best strategy is two printers. For excellent black and white text use a black and white laser printer. There are nice consumer models out for $150 - $200 from HP and Brother. For color, you may get by nicely with a cheaper color ink-jet. The real cost over the years is for the ink-jet cartridges anyway. HP and Canon Pixma series get consistently good reviews. The Consumer Reports of May 2005 gives ratings on 17 ink-jets and 3 B&W lasers. Machome magazine of Sep 2005 has reviews of ink-jets. Macworld.com has reviews on line and you can loads more at PC World and PC Magazine. Google by brand name/model.
