Truthfully, Most of the knowledgeable computer people I know like OS X, and are envious of it when I show it off. They like the functionality, and wish they could also have a virus free computer, and simply wish the mac was more standardized compared to PCs so they could use al the same hardware/software. mostly, though, they are still stuck on the "macs are too expensive" idea. Even after I show them cheap macs like the mac mini or iBook it doesn't fully sink in. They've been told otherwise for too long. They also don't quite grasp the idea that macs now use a unix based OS. Mostly, though, PC users who really know computers simply don't like apple as a company, or they don't like how "elitest" mac users can sometimes appear. We all know how nice these macs we have are, and why they are preferrable to PCs. But it's best we not brag about it to those who don't use Macs. It's as offensive to a PC user as when a president of an all PC college steps forward and says all of the macs that people stampeded for are worthless and he can't fathom why people would be so stupid. Instead, just let the mac speak for itself to catch others attention. You can help it talk, but try not to say bad things about the windows world, since it implies bad buying/decision making of the PC user. Catch more flies with honey than vinegar and all that.

My Mom, who has been using computers since the TRS 80 (Trash 80 as they were affectionately called) turned 82 last week. I finally convinced her last

worms, no FDSIK, installing/reinstalling and general malaise of the Windoze
computer.

I get so tired of PC people being so negative and against Macs. They haven't even tried them. I started out on a Commodore 64, then on to a Tandy SX 1000 and from there a Gateway Pentium. Then I discovered Macs and don't plan to
ever go back.

Maybe a bumper sticker or something.

Stamp out crime in education. Open your mind!

Good for you ! Just what are they teaching them ?
Having a closed mind in education is a crime. Hopefully you can spread
a little knowledge with your book.

The sad part is that this college caters to teacher education. The OT
people are actually a separate company that came in a few years ago.

I can't tell you how many times when the "peecee" lab is reserved and
someone needs to work on something, say a Word document we'll suggest
the Mac lab, and the people will say "I only know how to use a
computer--not a Mac." And then you gently have to instruct them that
the Macs are actually more intuitive, more user-friendly, AND can read their IBM-formatted disks. MIcrosoft has done a fine brainwashing job
on the general public!

Hopefully they didn't mention Apple or say anything like the old Who
concert bad taste jokes like "I'd walk all over you for an iBook". Did
they ?

Actually, NBC only reported "notebook computers" and didn't mention
iBooks or Apple at all.
