There's your solution. If you document that it is actually costing you money you might convince some of the pointy-hairs. Point out that if CNN used Macs they'd have been able to laugh at all the folks paralyzed by the Zotob virus yesterday. (Hey, at least they were careful to say it was a 'Windows computer virus' most of the time...they're learning!)
That said, it's pretty easy to tell if you're dealing with idiot PHB's or idiot IT folks. I've run into my share of unreasonably Mac- hostile IT people.
