Thanks for the suggestion. I reseated all of the PC board connections
inside my Powerbook, made sure the screws were tight holding the heat
shield against the CPU, and then put spacers under the outside of the
case and set-up a fan blowing air around and under the unit to keep it
cool. I then attempted to install OS X. In several tries, it froze-up
each time; the best was at 6 minutes remaining on the installation. It
appears that I really will remain on OS-9.2, which has worked very well
and never freezes-up.
