I'd rather attach the scanner to my 1 GHz eMac, but looks like I'm out of luck there as it only has Firewire and USB 1.1 - and, as far as I can tell, no options for rigging a USB 2 device up to it.
90% of USB2.0 devices work perfectly fine (as will your canoscan) with USB 1.1 ports, even iPods. data transfer is USB1.1 speeds, of course (my 1G Shuffle took an hour to synch on a USB 1.1 port the first time.)
