Hi

This is related to my 1400 powerbook but I think its also a problem anyone
can have

I got a cheap pcmcia card for the pb, a dayna communicard plus. It has a
adaptor lead that lets you plug in an ethernet connect or a phone line.

The thing works fine on ethernet, but all attempts to dial off ARA gives me
the 'port is in use' message. The card's own diagnostic utility tells me
'cant give details of card, card is in use'

Now I have turned off everything (especially appletalk) except ara and still
get the message. I have of course turned off all ethernet extensions, fax
extensions etc. I have tried moving it from lower to upper slot. I have also
zapped pram

I have the latest s/ware for the card although it is now unsupported as
dayna went belly up. I am on 9.1, the card was made around 8.5 time

Anyone have any ideas? As far as I can see nothing is using the card, yet
clearly something is.

Is a clean install of system the only way to go?

TIA

Nick
