Hello folks!
Yesterday there was a sudden outburst of bad weather. I didn't see it until
I was disturbed by a really loud "Poof" from the back of the display and/or
computer... (apologies to any British people here but the sound was actually
"Poof")
Naturally I tried to turn off the computer the usual way and discovered that
it took very long.
After restarting (when the thunder/lightning was long gone) the finder
tended to crash. Checked the System HD with Norton. It found an error that I
neither can recall seeing before nor remember now.
Well Norton fixed it and it restarted fine, but the computer is still dead
slow when shutting down and restarting the computer and starting up
programs.
I have tried Norton defrag, TechTool PRAM-zap and desktop rebuild. The
problems still there. I can tell you that Norton FileSaver takes forever
going through my three hd's!
I think that I might have been lucky anyway? It could have been the end of
my computer.

Questions:
Any suggestions what the problem is?
I have a lightning-protector (don't know if this is a real word) between the
phoneline and the modem. If this thing took most of the "heat" do I need to
replace it now?
Cheers,

Per-Anders
